The Patina Blouse Dressmaking Day
The Patina Blouse is a fantastic everyday top with a twist! With a statement collar and the choice to put in a deeper V neck, this blouse is a fun wearable that can be dressed up or down. In this day workshop, Wendy will take you through skills needed to tackle collars, cuffs, and a continuous bound placket with buttonholes. You will leave with either a finished garment or the tools to finish up at home.

Ability Level:Confident Beginners and up - you should have foundational machine sewing skills to get the most from this workshop
Course Duration: Saturday 16th November, 10am - 4pm
You will learn:
- How to improve your dressmaking skills
- Learn how to read a pattern
- How to construct a garment
- How to attach cuffs and collars
You will need to bring:
Tools needed:
- A sewing machine in good working order. Please note that a sewing machine that has been sat unused for some time will likely need a service to be able to work to its full potential.
- A basic sewing kit, including dressmaking scissors, small scissors, dressmakers’ pins, tape measure, seam ripper, safety pins hand sewing needles
- A buttonhole foot for your machine
Materials needed:
-Main fabric – see requirements according to size and style: Light to medium woven fabrics such as linens, cotton blends, double gauze, viscose, twill, brushed cottons, lightweight cotton denims etc.
- 60cm of interfacing that matches the weight of your chosen fabric
- 5-7, 1/2”[1.3cm] buttons. 5 if you are making the short sleeved version, 7 if you are making the long sleeved version.
- Matching thread
- The pattern will be included as part of the workshop

About your tutor:
Wendy is a bespoke dressmaker and costume maker. She studied fashion design and pattern cutting in London back in the 1970’s and also qualified in millinery. She started her career working for a London film and stage costumier, making costumes and has also worked in pattern cutting and size grading for a high street store. Since then she has been dressmaking and making stage costume, historical costume, bridal and prom wear. Her speciality is working with finer fabrics with focus on detail and fit.
