Zipper Masterclass with Dot n Cross

So you’ve been learning how to make your own clothes, but so far haven’t made any garments with zips. Then this is the class for you! Helen will teach you all the basic techniques you’ll need to start sewing zips and we will cover 3 different types of zips: centered zip, exposed zip, and invisible zip. All the supplies for this class are included in the price, and you will receive a course booklet and a folder to store your zip samples in.

Ability Level:This class is a beginner plus level. You should be comfortable with using a sewing machine and sew following the seam allowance.

You’ve probably tackled a few dress making projects at home, but haven’t yet had the confidence to insert zips. Or perhaps you’ve sewn zips a while ago and have forgotten how! We will be demonstrating every technique first and then you will have a go.

When?: Sunday 13th October, 10am-1pm

Everything is included. You will receive the samples pre-cut ready for you to sew in calico, and all the zips.

A folder for your finished samples to live in.

A booklet that covers all the sewing techniques.

- A sewing machine in good working order.Please note that a machine that has been sat unused for some time will likely need a service in order to run to its full potential.

-Different machine feet to include: zipper foot and concealed zipper foot

- A general sewing kit to include: fabric scissors, small scissors, tape measure, pins, seam ripper, fabric marker, pencil etc

Nothing! Everything will be provided for you, including a course booklet for you to store your samples in for future reference

About your tutor:

Helen Shine, owner of Dot n Cross, is a pattern cutter and seamstress who has worked in the fashion industry in London for over 10 years. She has cut patterns for several high-end designer brands, including Victoria Beckham, Mary Katrantzou, and Karen Millen. She has been teaching home sewers how to pattern cut, amend sewing patterns and improve the fit of garments since 2018. She loves sharing the knowledge she has gained over the years with others, to help them on their sewing journey.
