About Us
Often referred to as an “Aladdin’s cave”, we’re a fabric emporium selling haberdashery, sewing machines, and all the in-betweens!
It all began back in 1984 when Rob and Frances Millbank opened their fabric stall nestled in Lemon Street Market. Over the years we’ve grown into a one stop shop; you can find everything you could need to create your dream handmade wardrobe and interiors in our store. Still in Truro, the heart of Cornwall, our independent business remains in the family. Passed down to the next generation, Rob and Frances’ daughter, Sarah Millbank, took the helm in 2022. Growing up in the industry, constantly surrounded by fabric, Sarah is a fountain of knowledge, especially in her element in our interiors and soft furnishings department.
We are a wonderful tight knit (pardon the pun) team of passionate makers, stitchers, designers, and creators! Sharing our knowledge and coaching you along your sewing, knitting, or making journey is the favourite part of our job. Whether you’re a complete novice or a seasoned vet, we love being part of it.
Sharing our knowledge and that of others in the community of makers here in Cornwall has become such a passion for us that we opened the doors to Truro Fabrics Studio back in 2022. A learning hub for workshops, classes, clubs, and events. Working with local tutors and creatives, we are constantly expanding our programme of offerings and revel in watching the sewing and crafting community grow.
