This dinosaur blanket was actually inspired by a Monty Python sketch – “Theory on Brontosauruses by Anne Elk (Miss)”
The dinosaurs were appliquéd onto a vintage blanket with hand embroidered wording and whilst my blanket features four appliquéd dinosaurs, but you can obviously make as many dinosaurs as you wish. And of course, the dinosaurs would look just as great on a patchwork quilt, cushion or other project too.
Two full sized paper templates are included in the pattern to make a jointed Apatosaurus dinosaur. By arranging the legs, head, tail and neck of your dinosaur as you wish, Monty can look up and down, stand, or stride!
I used a small, tight zigzag stitch round the raw edges of the dinosaurs, which is very quick and simple. The hand embroidered phrase was great fun to do. I then added binding to the edges, but a traditional blanket stitch edge would also look great.
The paper pattern features clear, detailed instructions, two full size jointed appliqué paper templates and colour images. Printed on good quality paper, 140gsm cover and 120gsm inner pages and packaged in a protective sleeve mean the pattern can be used again and again.
This truly unique and versatile appliqué pattern is perfect for any dinosaur fan!
My finished blanket measures 44 x 60 inches.
