Schmetz Sewing Machine Needles - Assorted Topstitch

Pack of 5 assorted size Topstitch sewing machine needles, compatible with all types of domestic, household sewing machines.

This assortment includes: 2x 80/12, 2x 90/14 and 1x 100/16.

The Topstitch needle has a (2mm) elongated eye providing less stress on the thread as it passes through the eye. This means even 2 or 3 threads can glide effortlessly through the eye and are handled gently without tearing as well as, of course, heavy topstitching threads.

The Topstitch needle is useful for sewing with metallic and even poor-quality threads and can easily be used with a wide range of fabrics, due to the to the slightly rounded point.

These multifunctional needles can also be used for embroidery with embroidery machines.

Uses: With heavy topstitching threads, patchwork & quilting, multi-directional quilting, fragile/poor quality threads, multiple threads, and for embroidery with embroidery machines.

Size 80/12 suitable for: Needlecord, Shirting, Patchwork Cotton, Cotton Poplin, Lightweight Wool.

Size 90/14 suitable for: Calico, Linen, Cotton Sateen, Duchesse Satin, Curtain Lining, Velvet.

Size 100/16 suitable for: Corduroy, Canvas, Curtains, Jacket & Trouser Weights, Heavy Wool Suiting.

Choosing the right size needle for your project is crucial for a smooth, professional finish. Using a needle that is too thick will create a large hole in your fabric, and choosing one that is too small increases the risk of bending or snapping when sewing. The goal is to have the needle slide easily through the fabric without damaging the fibres, and to carry the thread smoothly without causing damage to your project. Typically needle sizes range from 60/8 (the finest) to 120/19 (the largest). We recommend to replace your needle after 8 hours of use and at the beginning of each project. Replacing your machine needle is the easiest way to improve stitch quality!
