The Schmetz Stretch Twin Needle features two Stretch Needles connected to a flat shank via a bar, for simultaneous sewing of two parallel seams. The Universal Twin Needle can be used with all conventional household sewing machines with a zigzag function. (Verify the machine throat plate can accommodate needle width).
The stretch needle has a medium ball point, smaller eye, and a deep scarf. The unique design of the scarf and eye prevents skipped stitches and the ball point tip helps to prevent thread damage and holes.
This needle is suited for use on highly elastic knits, especially if the fibre content includes Lycra®, Spandex, or elastic.

Choosing the right size needle for your project is crucial for a smooth, professional finish. Using a needle that is too thick will create a large hole in your fabric, and choosing one that is too small increases the risk of bending or snapping when sewing. The goal is to have the needle slide easily through the fabric without damaging the fibers, and to carry the thread smoothly without causing damage to your project. Typically needle sizes range from 60/8 (the finest) to 120/19 (the largest). We recommend to replace your needle after 8 hours of use and at the beginning of each project. Replacing your machine needle is the easiest way to improve stitch quality!
Damaged or worn needles result in:
• Broken or shredded threads
• Skipped or uneven stitches
• Puckered or damaged fabrics
• Popping sounds made by sewing machine
