Unlike a standard sewing machine or overlocker, a coverstitch machine sews two or more parallel rows of stitching on the right side of the fabric whilst simultaneously creating a looped chain stitch on the reverse — the same stitch used in the hems of commercially produced T-shirts, jersey dresses, activewear and knitwear.
