Our National Cornish Tartan is woven in a soft poly-viscose twill that gives this iconic tartan a more fluid, wearable feel than traditional heavyweight kilt cloth. The twill weave gives the fabric a subtle diagonal texture, while the poly-viscose blend makes it a versatile choice for dressmaking.
We’d make this into a full or pleated skirt, tailored dress, pinafore, waistcoat or smart jacket, letting the tartan bring plenty of character to a relatively simple pattern. It has that wonderful heritage feel, but doesn’t have to look traditional.
