Inspired by the women who joined the workforce during World War II, Folkwear's 240 Rosie the Riveter sewing pattern brings together a practical collection of vintage-inspired workwear. The pattern includes a camp shirt, pleated slacks and sweetheart-bib overalls, alongside instructions for a knitted sweater and crocheted snood.

The Shirt is based on classic men's sport shirts, now commonly known as camp shirts. Make it in crisp white cotton for an authentic look, or choose a bright print for a more playful take.

The Slacks have front pleats, side pockets and a back zip fastening. Straight legs fall smoothly from the hips for a clean, tailored silhouette. Use the same trouser design to create the Overalls, adding a sweetheart-shaped bib and straps that cross at the back.

The pattern also includes a two-colour knitted Sweater, worked in alternating garter and stockinette stitches, with set-in sleeves and a round neckline. Complete the look with the crocheted Snood, designed to keep hair neatly in place.

Alongside the sewing and knitting instructions, the PDF download includes layered pattern files for different printing methods: copy shop (36" and A0), print at home (A4 and US Letter 8.5" × 11"), and a projector file.

Available in Misses sizes XS–2XL.

The PDF pattern has instructions, and files for copy shop (36” and A0), print at home (A4 and 8.5”x11”), and a projector file. These files are all layered by size. This pattern also includes instructions for the knitted sweater and crocheted snood.

LEARN MORE:

  • This pattern has lots of ease, especially in the shirt, which was useful to working women who needed to do lots of moving around.  Just keep that in mind when determining your size (a muslin may be helpful too).  You may want to make the shirt a size or two smaller than you normally would.

  • Pattern Correction: Adjust buttonholes on Waistband K to be in the correct position for your size (they are printed in the wrong location for all sizes on the paper pattern).

  • To make these overalls into a dress, we have a tutorial on our blog you can follow.
