Bring some Western style to your handmade wardrobe with Folkwear's 242 Rodeo Cowgirl Jacket sewing pattern. Inspired by vintage cowgirl costumes from the early 20th century, this versatile jacket has plenty of scope for personalisation, from classic denim to embellished statement pieces.

The unlined jacket features princess seams, a shawl collar and set-in sleeves. You can customise the design with three different shoulder yoke variations and two options for the cuff yokes and pocket shapes. There's also an optional belt to complete the look.

Make it in denim or corduroy for a traditional Western-inspired jacket, or experiment with velvet, suede or silk for something more distinctive. The pattern is also ideal for embellishment. Add fringe, studs, embroidery or lace to create a jacket that reflects your own style.

The pattern draws inspiration from the adventurous women who made their own outfits for travelling rodeo shows in the early 1900s, including cowgirls such as Prairie Rose Henderson and Fanny Sperry Steele.

Available in Misses' sizes XS–2XL.
