The Folkwear 250 Hollywood Pants PDF Sewing Pattern includes three vintage-inspired women's trouser styles, in sizes XS–3XL. Inspired by the 1930s and 1940s, these designs reflect the growing popularity of trousers as public attire for women, influenced in part by the glamour and visibility of Hollywood film stars.
Choose from Knickers, Trousers or Shorts, each with its own distinctive silhouette and construction details. The Knickers, inspired by 1931 styles, have a button-front fly closure and side pockets. Pleats below the knee shape the legs into fitted cuffs, which fasten with buttons for an authentic period look.
The Trousers take inspiration from around 1940. Their straight silhouette is shaped by a high, wide waistband, back darts and front pleats. They fasten with a zip at the left side and have an on-seam pocket on the right. The legs fall straight from the fullest part of the hip to the ankle, creating a graceful, streamlined shape.
The 1940s-inspired Shorts have a back zip fastening and inverted box pleats at both the front and back. These pleats create a smooth fit through the hips before opening out into comfortable fullness through the legs.
Each style has its own fabric recommendations, so you can choose materials that suit the design. The Knickers work well in medium to heavyweight fabrics, including wool, cotton and corduroy. For the Trousers, choose a medium-weight fabric with a softer drape, while the Shorts suit soft or slightly crisp medium-weight fabrics.
With three different styles in one pattern, Folkwear 250 Hollywood Pants offers a choice of vintage-inspired knickers, classic high-waisted trousers and tailored shorts for your handmade wardrobe.
The PDF pattern has several files: instructions, copy shop (36 and A0) for each pants, and print at home.
