Choose light to midweight woven fabrics with enough structure to hold the clean lines of the design while still offering a little drape.

For the lining, choose lightweight silky fabrics such as rayon bemberg, charmeuse or crepe de chine. If your main fabric is lightweight and soft enough, it can also be used as the lining.

Supplies Required:

  • Fusible interfacing
  • Cotton stay tape, 1.5 yd (1.4m)
  • Matching thread
  • Elastic for inner loop: 1/4" (6mm) wide × 2½" (6.5cm) long
  • 1 button: 3/8"–1/2" (10–13mm)
  • Safety pin or tube turner for turning ties
  • Optional (View C): 2 x 1½" (38mm) D-rings

Interfacing requirements:

  • All views: 1/2" (13mm) wide strips
  • Views A & B: 0.7 yd (0.7m)

If you don't have cotton stay tape, you can substitute it with the selvedge of a lightweight fabric.

If you don't have elastic for the inner loop, replace it with cotton stay tape, narrow ribbon or a strong thread chain.
