Choose light to medium weight woven fabrics and shirtings depending on the look you would like to create.
For a crisp, classic shirt, choose structured woven fabrics such as:
- Poplin
- Chambray
- Oxford
- Broadcloth
- Dobby shirting
- Twill shirting
For a softer, more relaxed finish, choose fabrics such as:
- Linen
- Tencel
- Voile
- Viscose
- Silk
- Flannel
If making View B in a heavier fabric such as flannel, we recommend using lightweight cotton for the smile pocket bags.
Supplies Required:
- Fusible interfacing, 0.5 yd (0.5m)
- Cotton lining for pocket bags, 0.25 yd (0.25m) (optional, View B)
- Shirt buttons or snaps, 14–16 x 1/2" (13mm)–5/8" (16mm) wide
- Matching thread
- Marking tool
- Piping (View B)
Interfacing recommendations:
- Choose light to medium weight woven interfacing for a softer finish
- Choose crisp, non-woven interfacing for sturdier cuffs and collars
Piping requirements:
- Sizes 0–20: Sizes 0–6: 4 yd (3.5m), Sizes 8–20: 4.5 yd (4m)
- Sizes 14–32: Sizes 14–24: 5.5 yd (5m), Sizes 26–32: 6 yd (5.5m)
