Cotton Blend Lace Rib Knit - Sunset Stripe

Sunset Stripe is a deadstock lace rib knit made in Spain, featuring stripes of ivory, hot pink, brown and yellow. The colour palette is bold and playful while the fabric itself is light, open and highly textured.

This is a very fine lace weight knitted fabric, constructed from a 50% cotton, 50% polyester yarn. The cotton gives a soft, natural handle, while the polyester adds stability, improves washability and helps the fabric dry more quickly, making it a practical choice for warm weather and holiday sewing.

The fabric is knitted in a 2x1 rib structure using a tuck stitch technique, which creates small lace-like holes within the knit. The tuck stitch works by holding loops of yarn for an extra row before knitting them through, forming delicate openings with fine floating yarns between the ribs. The result is an open, airy fabric with a texture that is similar to crochet, while still being machine knitted.

As this fabric contains no elastane, it has natural stretch from the knit structure but limited recovery compared to jersey with elastane. It is best suited to looser fitting garments and designs that work with a softer, more relaxed drape.

Ideal for beach cover ups, summer tops, loose dresses, shorts and lightweight trousers. The ribbed structure also works well for cuffs and trims where a textured finish is desired.
