Recommended for Cotton Seersucker Ripstop Fabric - Pearl Grid
This beautifully unusual fabric combines three distinct textile techniques in one lightweight shirting cloth: seersucker puckering, a subtle ripstop-style woven grid, and a touch of elastane for gentle stretch and comfort. The result is a highly textured, softly structured cotton fabric that feels both modern and timeless.
Woven from 98% organic cotton and 2% elastane, this creamy fabric has a naturally breathable handle with a light crispness that makes it ideal for more sculptural dressmaking. The seersucker element creates soft puckering throughout the surface, while the fine grid weave adds subtle structure and visual interest without overwhelming the cloth.
At shirting weight, it sits beautifully between crisp cotton and soft blouse fabric, giving just enough body to hold shape while still allowing for movement and drape. The slight stretch adds comfort and makes it particularly easy to wear.
Perfect for sewing blouses, shirts, dresses and tops, this fabric really comes into its own in designs with volume and detail, think gathered waists, puff sleeves, tiered dresses, pleats and soft tailoring. It’s also a brilliant choice for elevated everyday pieces that feel special but remain practical and wearable.
This fabric would make an especially beautiful TATB Leah Top & Dress with the side ties and peplum!
