The Ready To Sew Holly Bubble Top PDF Sewing Pattern is a light, feminine summer top inspired by the refined blouses and petticoats of the early 19th century. Combining traditional pintucks and drawstring gathers with a relaxed modern silhouette, Holly is designed to be comfortable enough for lounging while still feeling special enough to wear out.

Choose between a balloon-shaped or flared silhouette, with delicate straps and beautiful gathered details. The airy shape makes Holly an easy-to-wear choice for warm weather, while the two variations allow you to create different looks from the same sewing pattern.

The pleated version is particularly suited to lightweight, stable fabrics such as cotton poplin and linen, while the non-pleated version can be made in more fluid fabrics such as Tencel or silk.

Designed as a beginner-friendly sewing project, Holly is available in sizes 32–64 and makes a versatile addition to a handmade summer wardrobe.

Sewing Level: Beginner

Holly works beautifully in lightweight woven fabrics. For the pleated version, choose a stable fabric that will hold the pintucks neatly. The non-pleated version can also be made in softer, more fluid fabrics for a drapier finish.

For best results, choose fabrics weighing approximately 115–150gsm.

To complete the balloon version of the Holly Bubble Top you will need:

  • 5cm (2") lightweight fusible interfacing
  • 9mm (3/8") flat elastic, cut to half your upper bust measurement
  • 15mm (5/8") flat elastic, cut to your waist measurement
  • Matching bias binding: 2.5m for size range 1 or 3m for size range 2

For the flared version, you will need:

  • 5cm (2") lightweight fusible interfacing
  • 9mm (3/8") flat elastic, cut to half your upper bust measurement
  • Matching bias binding: 2.5m for size range 1 or 3m for size range 2
