The kind of denim you buy for the long haul. This classic indigo denim has that unmistakable workwear feel, with enough structure to make hard-working jackets, everyday bags and proper jeans that hold their shape.

This is deadstock denim from a heritage American jeanswear production, made from 100% cotton with absolutely no stretch or give. At 12oz, it sits in the midweight category, giving you a substantial fabric that's robust without being excessively heavy. It's a great choice for chore jackets, utility pieces and traditional rigid denim jeans.

The denim arrives unwashed, so expect the indigo to soften and fade with wear, developing its own character over time. Rigid denim also gradually relaxes and moulds to your shape, making your handmade jeans feel increasingly personal with every wear.

Please note: As with all heavily dyed denim, some surface dye transfer is to be expected. We recommend soaking in cold water before cutting and sewing to help remove excess dye. Wash separately at first and take care around pale fabrics and upholstery.

1. Pre-Wash is Essential!

Before sewing, always pre-wash your denim to prevent shrinkage later. Wash it on a cold or lukewarm cycle with mild detergent and air dry to keep the fabric’s structure intact.

2. Wash Less, Wear More

Denim doesn’t need frequent washing. Instead, spot-clean small stains and air your garments to keep them fresh. When a full wash is necessary, turn items inside out and use a cold wash to preserve colour.

Opt for a gentle, non-bio detergent to prevent fading and keep denim soft. Avoid bleach or fabric softeners, as they can break down fibres and dull the colour.

4. Skip the Tumble Dryer (If You Can!)

High heat can cause denim to shrink and weaken over time. Air dry where possible, laying flat or hanging to maintain its shape. If using a dryer, choose low heat to reduce stress on the fabric.

5. Iron with Care

Denim doesn’t need much ironing, but if wrinkles appear, use a medium heat setting with steam. For stubborn creases, a damp cloth between the iron and fabric works wonders.
