The Paradise Patterns Hallon Dress is a relaxed woven dress with two different silhouettes and plenty of options to customise the finish. Choose between a loose, swingy shape with a ruffled hem or a straighter style with side seam slits, then mix and match the details to create your own version.

View A has a very relaxed fit, gathered back and a low, loose back detail that leaves more of your back visible. A ruffled hem adds extra movement and volume.

View B has a straighter fit with no back gathers, so it sits closer to the body at the back. Side seam slits give you more freedom of movement and a different finish from the ruffled version.

You can combine the features of both views to make the dress your own. Add the ruffled hem to View B, or leave it off View A and use side seam slits instead.

The instructions guide you through making and applying bias binding, gathering fabric, sewing darts and finishing French seams. You'll also learn how to construct French seam side slits for View B.

Choose a lightweight to medium-weight woven fabric to suit your preferred shape. Crisp cotton and linen create a billowy View A, while drapey fabrics such as rayon challis, silk crepe and Tencel work particularly well for the closer-fitting View B.
