The Nevis Skirt by Merchant & Mills is a versatile skirt sewing pattern designed for everyday adventures, whether you're climbing hills or navigating city streets. With two distinct versions included, you can choose a utility-inspired style featuring a structured waistband, pockets and button detailing, or a softer tie-waist version for a more relaxed look.

This independent sewing pattern works beautifully in a variety of woven dressmaking fabrics. Structured fabrics such as cotton canvas, twill, denim, corduroy and lightweight wool create a practical utility feel, while linen, tencel-linen and linen-wool blends are perfect for the softer tie-waist variation.

Suitable for advanced beginners through to intermediate sewists, depending on the version chosen, the Nevis Skirt is a rewarding project that offers plenty of versatility. The tie-waist option is ideal for those building confidence, while the button waistband version introduces more advanced construction techniques.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Mid-weight cotton canvas, 8oz organic sanded twill, corduroy, light-medium weight woolens and 7-10oz denim. We suggest using softer fabrics for the tie version to give a relaxed silhouette such as linen, tencel/linen, linen /wool blends.
Matching thread. 4 X 2CM/3/4” & 1 X 1.5CM/1/2” (pocket flap) buttons for waistband version. 1 X 2CM/3/4" button for tie waistband version. 0.4M/1/2YD lining. Interfacing - see fabric requirements above.
