The Ready To Sew Emile Pants PDF Sewing Pattern is a comfortable yet characterful women's trouser pattern with an elasticated waist, 7/8 length and your choice of a straight or barrel leg. Designed for confident beginners, Emile offers an approachable introduction to trouser making without compromising on style.

The pattern features a clean, structured silhouette with a mid-rise waist for Size Range 1 and a high-rise waist for Size Range 2. A distinctive vertical seam runs down the leg, with practical pockets cleverly inserted between the seam and side seam for a graphic, modern finish.

Choose the straight leg for a classic everyday trouser or the barrel leg for a more contemporary silhouette. Emile works particularly well in stable woven fabrics such as cotton poplin, chambray, lightweight denim, corduroy and linen blends.

Sewing Level: Confident Beginner

Emile is designed for light- to medium-weight stable woven fabrics with a weight of approximately 120–220gsm. Choose fabrics with enough structure to hold the shape of the trousers while remaining comfortable to wear.

  • Lightweight denim
  • Lightweight corduroy
  • Linen and Tencel blends
  • Cotton and Tencel blends

Avoid very fluid or slippery fabrics, such as some lightweight viscose or very drapey Tencel, as these may not hold the structured shape of the trousers and can make construction more challenging.

To complete the Emile Pants you will need:

  • 3.5cm wide flat elastic for the waistband
  • Sewing machine
  • Iron
  • Fabric scissors
  • Chalk or removable fabric marker
