The Maéli Paris Claire PDF Sewing Pattern is a versatile dress and blouse pattern with a clean, timeless design and a relaxed, straight silhouette. Available in sizes 34–52, Claire is designed with upcycling in mind, making it a great opportunity to give vintage fabrics, embroidered textiles and treasured fabric scraps a new purpose.

The pattern features distinctive cut-out detailing across the front, creating an ideal place to showcase vintage embroidery or introduce a contrasting fabric. There is also an optional ruffle detail on the front panel if you prefer a softer, more decorative finish. Practical pockets make this an easy-to-wear design, while neat facings and clean finishing details help create a polished result inside and out.

Choose between making the dress or blouse version. Both have an unfitted shape, offering a comfortable, straightforward style that works well with a variety of fabrics. The front cut-outs and facings are key construction techniques, with the ruffle installation needed only if you choose that optional detail. Seam allowances are included in the pattern.

Maéli Paris recommends lightweight cottons such as poplin, or lawn or linen and linen blends for cooler seasons. Vintage cotton sheets and tablecloths are also suggested for upcycling, while fabric scraps can be used for the facings. Antique ribbons or braids can add extra detail around the front cut-out.

For a summer version, Maéli Paris recommends lightweight cotton fabrics weighing 100–150 g/m², such as:

  • Cotton poplin
  • Cotton voile
  • Medium weight woven

For a breathable version, choose linen, ramie or Tencel weighing 150–200 g/m².

The pattern is designed with upcycling in mind. Vintage cotton sheets and tablecloths can be repurposed for the dress or blouse, while fabric scraps can be used for the facings. Antique ribbons and braids can also be used to highlight the front cut-out detail.
