Bordeaux Check is a pure wool tweed fabric featuring a classic plaid in red, chocolate brown and blue. The rich colour combination works well for traditional tailoring and autumn and winter garments.

Woven in a substantial tweed weight, this pure wool fabric has a soft feel and natural drape, giving finished garments structure without feeling stiff. This ex-designer deadstock is ideal for making well-crafted pieces to wear season after season.

Use this wool plaid fabric to sew a tailored blazer, winter skirt, lined coat, waistcoat or smart trousers. You could also make a matching jacket and skirt suit for a coordinated look.

Pure wool tweed doesn’t need frequent washing. Air garments between wears and use a soft clothes brush to remove dust and surface dirt. Blot small marks gently with a damp cloth, avoiding rubbing. For structured jackets and coats, we recommend professional dry cleaning. Simple, unlined garments may be hand-washed in cool water with a wool-safe detergent. We recommend testing a piece first. Never wring, tumble dry or dry on a radiator, as heat and agitation can cause wool to shrink or lose its shape.
