Quilted Fabric - Delft Garden

Delft Garden is a quilted fabric with real personality - a bold retro floral print on the face, a built-in wadding layer for warmth and body, and a practical cotton muslin backing that makes it stable and straightforward to sew with.

The print itself is a bold blue-on-blue floral; large, retro blooms and trailing leaves in soft sky blue on a deeper navy base, with a fine diamond quilt pattern stitched through.

Underneath, there's a layer of wadding that gives the fabric a gentle loft and a lovely body, while a cotton muslin backing keeps everything stable and easy to sew with. All three layers are already bonded and quilted together, which takes a lot of the hard work out of construction. You will want to add a simple lining to finish your make - the muslin layer is a working backing rather than a finished one - but a basic lining fabric is all you need and it's well worth the extra step.

The wadding layer means it has a natural warmth to it, making it ideal for a cropped jacket, an overshirt or a gilet that will actually keep the chill out. It's also a great choice for structured tote bags and everyday carry pieces, where the built-in body means the bag holds its shape beautifully. For the home, it works just as well as cushion covers, a table runner or a simple throw.
