The Sirkka Hooded Jacket PDF Sewing Pattern by Named Clothing is a lightweight outdoor jacket with plenty of practical details. Designed as an unlined style, it features a detachable hood, long sleeves, a high collar and a front zip fastening. The relaxed design is finished with elasticated gathering at the hood, hemline and cuffs, creating a comfortable fit that can be adjusted with elastic cords.
There’s plenty of useful pocket space, too. The large front patch pockets have overlapping flaps secured with snap fasteners, with an additional side pocket and another pocket concealed underneath one of the flaps. A zipper shield covers the upper section of the front zip and fastens with a snap button, while the hood and pocket details give the jacket a distinctive finish.
Construction details make this an interesting project for experienced sewists. All seams are sewn using flat-felled seams, creating a neat, enclosed finish that is both durable and hard-wearing. The hood is detachable, so you can wear the jacket with or without it.
Choose a lightweight outerwear fabric for the main jacket. Depending on the texture and feel of your fabric, you can use the same material to line the hood or choose a separate lining fabric if your outer fabric feels coarse or particularly static. Take care when choosing your snap fasteners, as lightweight fabrics need lighter snaps rather than heavy-duty options that could damage the material.
With sizes from EUR 32–56 (UK 4–28), the Sirkka pattern is an advanced sewing project for making a practical, detail-rich jacket with a professional finish.
