The Sommar Camisole is a close-fitting sewing pattern for stretch knits with elastane, featuring a built-in shelf bralette for extra coverage and support. With a scoop neckline at the front and a straight neckline at the back, you can also reverse the top to wear the straight neckline at the front.

Choose between a cropped or hip-length hem, or make just the bralette section to create a bikini or yoga top. The neckline and armholes are finished with neat, fully enclosed ½" double-fold bands for a clean finish.

Fabric choice is particularly important with this pattern, as the amount of stretch, recovery and weight will affect the fit and support. Your fabric needs at least 50% stretch and must contain elastane. Cotton with elastane is a good starting point if you're newer to sewing knits, as it's generally more stable and easier to handle than fabrics such as rayon.

Choose a lighter 4–6 oz/sq yd knit for a relaxed lounge camisole, a midweight 6–9 oz/sq yd fabric for everyday wear, or a heavier 9–12 oz/sq yd knit for a more compressive, sports-bra-style fit. Rib knits are also suitable, although their extra stretch means you may need to size down once or twice. They will also offer less support for larger busts.
