The SUVI Caftan Dress by Named Clothing is an easy, versatile pattern with two variations: a relaxed mini dress and a flowing maxi dress. Both have a deep V-neckline, extended shoulder sleeves and a loose, roomy fit, gathered at the waist with a cord for shape.

The mini dress has a simple, casual silhouette, while the maxi version includes an additional shoulder cord and gathered shoulders for a more elegant finish. Both styles can be made in a range of fabrics, taking you from an easy everyday dress to something suitable for an evening out.

Fabric choice makes a big difference to the finished look. Choose a lightweight, non-stretch fabric with little drape for an airy, voluminous shape, or opt for a fluid fabric for a softer, more flowing result. Double gauze, cotton lawn and washed linen work well for a relaxed finish, while viscose challis, crepe and satin create a more elegant drape.
