JULIANA MARTEJEVS - PDF Sewing Pattern - Quilted Vest EMILY
The JULIANA MARTEJEVS Emily Quilted Vest PDF Sewing Pattern is a versatile reversible gilet designed to give you two looks from one handmade garment. This short, sleeveless women's vest is ideal for adding an extra layer on cooler summer evenings, and you can choose whether to quilt your own fabric or work with pre-quilted fabric.
The Emily Vest is reversible and finished all the way around with bias binding. It features matching double welt pockets at the front, making it a rewarding project for sewists who already have some sewing experience. If you're newer to sewing, you can simply leave out the pockets to make the women's quilted vest pattern considerably easier to sew.
The pattern is available in sizes XS–XXXL and includes instructions for both quilting your own fabric and using pre-quilted fabric. When using pre-quilted fabric, you won't need batting and can skip the quilting steps; the remaining sewing steps stay the same.
The downloadable PDF sewing pattern comes in both DIN A4 and US Letter formats. You'll receive an ebook containing material details, a cutting layplan and styling suggestions, alongside written and illustrated sewing instructions in English, German and French.
A detailed video sewing tutorial is also included, presented in German with English and French subtitles, so you can work through the construction step by step. The Emily Vest has 8 cm (3 in) of positive ease around the bust. For reference, model Naomi is 170 cm (5' 7") tall and wears size S.
The designer used 100% cotton organic poplin weighing 120g/sqm for their Emily Vest.

The Emily Vest can be made by either quilting your own fabric or using pre-quilted fabric. The designer used:
- Organic cotton poplin, 100% cotton, with a weight of 120g/sqm
- Pre-quilted fabric
When using pre-quilted fabric, no batting is required and the quilting steps can be skipped. The remaining sewing steps are the same.
For the Emily Vest, you will need:
- Two different fabrics, each 1.40 m (1 1/2 yd) wide:
- XS–L: 55 cm (3/5 yd)
- XL–XXXL: 70 cm (3/4 yd)
- Batting, e.g. Vlieseline H630, 90 cm (1 yd) wide:
- XS–L: 1.50 m (1 2/3 yd)
- XL–XXXL: 2 m (2 1/5 yd)
- Bias binding:
- XS–L: 3.40 m (3 3/4 yd)
- XL–XXXL: 3.80 m (4 1/5 yd)
- 2 mm (1/16 in) wide elastic cord: XS–XXXL: 60 cm (2/3 yd)
- Sewing thread
- Sewing machine with a sewing needle suitable for your fabric weight
If you cut the bias binding yourself from your fabric, you will need an additional 60 cm (2/3 yd) of fabric for one of your fabrics.
If using pre-quilted fabric, you will not need batting and can skip the quilting steps.
