Light and airy while still feeling polished, Rory is a versatile midi dress sewing pattern that can be dressed up for a special occasion or worn casually as part of your everyday wardrobe.

The dress has a flowing, flared skirt that falls beautifully in a soft fabric, while the flared sleeves add a distinctive detail to the otherwise clean silhouette. The pattern can be made in a light denim or linen, or another light to medium-weight flowing fabric with no or little elastane.

Rory is available in sizes XS–XXXL and is rated Intermediate. The pattern is supplied as a downloadable PDF in both DIN A4 and US Letter formats. The accompanying ebook is available in English, French and German and includes the cutting layplan, styling tips, materials list and written, illustrated sewing instructions.

An invisible 60 cm (24 in) zip is used to fasten the dress. If you're not confident with concealed zips, the detailed sewing tutorial is there to guide you through the process step by step, with Juliana demonstrating how to sew the zipper. The tutorial is in German with English and French subtitles.

When choosing your size, measure your chest, waist and hip circumference and compare your measurements with the designer's size chart. For the Rory Dress, pay particular attention to your chest measurement. As the dress is flared, your hip measurement does not need to match the pattern size as closely.

Sewing Level: Intermediate

The Rory Dress is designed for a light to medium-weight, flowing fabric with no or little elastane. Suitable examples include:

  • Cotton denim
  • Linen

The fabric should have a minimum width of 140 cm.

The designer used a medium-weight denim made from 100% cotton, with a weight of 130g/qm, for the Rory Dress.

For the Rory Dress, you will need:

  • Light to medium-weight, flowing fabric with no or little elastane, 140 cm wide or more:
    • XS–S: 310 cm
    • M–L: 320 cm
    • XL–XXL: 330 cm
    • XXXL: 335 cm
  • 60 cm (24 in) invisible zip
