Birgitta Helmersson - PDF Sewing Pattern - Zero Waste Workwear Jacket
The Birgitta Helmersson ZW Workwear Jacket PDF Sewing Pattern combines practical workwear styling with innovative zero waste pattern cutting. Designed to minimise fabric waste, this paperless sewing pattern allows you to draft the pattern directly onto your fabric using the included cutting plans and printable templates, eliminating the need for large paper pattern sheets.
The oversized jacket features a classic collar, dropped shoulders, front button fastening and side splits for comfortable layering. Shoulder darts at the front and back create subtle shaping, while gathered sleeve hems with roll-up cuffs add a relaxed finish. Choose from two practical pocket options to personalise your jacket.
This versatile pattern uses fabric width to determine the finished garment size and includes two layout options, allowing you to create a jacket suitable for hips up to approximately 160cm (63"). The flexible zero waste drafting method also makes it easy to adapt the pattern for different fabric widths while reducing both paper and fabric waste.
As a digital sewing pattern, your files are available to download instantly after purchase. Rather than printing full-size pattern sheets, you'll receive a detailed instruction booklet, cutting plans and printable templates. Only the templates need to be printed, requiring approximately 8–9 A4 or US Letter pages before drafting the pattern directly onto your fabric.
Please note: This sewing pattern is licensed for personal and non-profit use only and may not be used for commercial production.

What is a Zero Waste Sewing Pattern?
Zero waste sewing patterns are designed to use almost every centimetre of your fabric, dramatically reducing fabric waste compared to traditional sewing patterns.
Rather than cutting around large printed paper pattern pieces, you'll draw the pattern directly onto your fabric using the included cutting diagrams and templates. This method not only saves paper, but also makes it easier to customise garment length, adapt to different fabric widths and even make use of leftover fabrics or patchworked remnants.
Birgitta Helmersson's innovative drafting method is ideal for anyone interested in sustainable sewing, mindful fabric use and learning new pattern cutting techniques.
